Another South Indian favorite is Uthappam. Though it can be prepared at home, the dish is more popular in South Indian restaurants. Very similar to Dosa, Uthappam is also made from the same dosa batter; just we are adding a few more ingredients and changing a few steps in preparation.
Ingredients
Dosa batter 2 cups
Onion 1 cup (chopped)
Green chili 1 teaspoon (chopped)
Coriander leaves a few (chopped)
Tomato1 cup (chopped)
Ghee as required
Method § Prepare batter as we have done for dosa. § Mix Onion, green chili, tomato, and coriander leaves in a bowl. § Heat a greased nonstick griddle and pour 1½ ladle of batter and spread it using the back of ladle to a thin round shape (thicker than dosa). § Spread 2 to 4 drops of ghee on the spread batter. § Top the cooking batter with mixed vegetables and cook at low or medium flame for 3 to 4 minutes. § Add some butter on the top and sides of the Uthappam to get it crunchy. § Cook on both sides and serve hot with Sambar and chutney. It may also go well with tomato ketchup. |
